… Is there a moderator of the forum at all? Anything we can do to help. Or is this discourse abandoned?

I signed up because I needed help but it seems nothing happens here. You can get a few answers but there is a pinned post saying we should use Github discussions : Use https://github.com/neovim/neovim/discussions

I’ve tried to delete some of the spam but I couldn’t find any batch delete option in discourse’s UI, which makes the process time consuming. I’ve tried adding some keywords to block some posts but looks like it’s a losing war. I dont know why the spam increased this fast, it’s as if akismet (the antispam plugin) became useless all of a sudden.
Justin wanted to focus questions to github discussions so this might prove to be the nail in the coffin. Ideally we would keep the answers here public my maybe making the forum readonly. Not sure what is possible with the free version of discourse.

Hi @teto ; the predicament sounds awful. Sorry you are having to deal with it, and curses to the spammers. I’m guessing some ‘kit’ that the spammers use has had the domain for this discourse added to it.

Maybe just lock down signups (I’m assuming they are all new accounts), or perhaps moderate initial posts from those accounts? However, judging by the amount of posts, that’s a lot of moderation.

Such a shame a few people spoil things for so many. This is why we can’t have nice things …

New users now need approval but it’s a stopgap measure. Most likely this discourse will go into readonly mode or disappear so if there’s any content you are interested saving, now is the time.
