How do people `exit` ins-completion wo/exiting insert mode?

Hi,

as my header describes how can i stop insert completion menu without
exiting insert mode, or how do you guys do this?

I use <C-e>. Take a look at :help popupmenu-keys if you want to see
all keybindings available when the completion menu is open :).

all right thanks! yeah i gotta read through the insert help file. I need to do that.
