How NeoVim interpret the CSI keybindings?

Hi,
I’m new in neovim, i search to unlock all shortcuts on my installation (Alacritty + Nvim).

NeoVim does not seem to interpret the CSI keybindings sent by my Alacritty emulator.

For example on the shortcut <C-S-P> my alacritty send “\x1b[80;6u”:

In alacritty.yml :
    { key: P, mods: Control|Shift, chars: "\x1b[80;6u" }
In nvim mappings.vim :
    nnoremap <C-S-P> :echo "Ok mapping for <C-S-P> work in nvim !"<CR>

But it doesn’t work.

I am however sure that the mapping is sent to nvim because if I try to do this:

In alacritty.yml :
    { key: P, mods: Control|Shift, chars: "Hello world !" }

If I do <C-S-P> in insert mode ‘Hello wolds !’ is written instantly.

I think I must have missed something, but I read:

  • :h tui-input
  • :h TERM
  • :h tui-csiu (Maybe the error come from there…)

I also find this links:

I tried to :

  • Uninstall and reinstall Alacritty.
  • Change the $TERM variable.
  • Check the terminal info
  • Trying to add autocmd test 1 or 2
  • Read all the google articles on this subject until you come across the same ones several times :laughing:

I wasted my whole weekend trying to solve this problem.
If someone could help me find my mistake before I go completely crazy, I would really appreciate it.

Tests :

autocmd test 1
autocmd UIEnter * if v:event.chan ==# 0 | call chansend(v:stderr, "\x1b[>4;2m") | endif
autocmd UILeave * if v:event.chan ==# 0 | call chansend(v:stderr, "\x1b[>4;0m") | endif
autocmd test 2
autocmd UIEnter * if v:event.chan ==# 0 | call chansend(v:stderr, "\x1b[>1u") | endif
autocmd UILeave * if v:event.chan ==# 0 | call chansend(v:stderr, "\x1b[<1u") | endif

You need to escape the opening < in the :echo command:

nnoremap <C-S-P> :echo "Ok mapping for <lt>C-S-P> work in nvim !"<CR>

Hello zeertzjq,

Thanks for your time and help.
This is the second time I try to reply to you, the first time my message was blocked by akismet bot…

I didn’t know that I had to escape the < in echo command.

But if i try to do this :

echo "Hi <zeertzjq>"

Nvim show me :

Hi <zeertzjq>

I have already tried to make a simpler mapping than these cases like :

nnoremap <C-S-p> :echo "Shortcut work."

With the same chars send by my shortcut.

In alacritty.yml :
    { key: P, mods: Control|Shift, chars: "\x1b[80;6u" }
